What is an ultrasound?

Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves to produce images of internal body structures. Ultrasounds are very safe, do not involve radiation and are typically minimally invasive and pain-free.   

Ultrasounds are also used in Interventional Radiology procedures, such as needle biopsies and injections. They produce real-time images which allow a radiologist to complete these procedures with precision.
